Sunken Meadow: Memory Map

Mixed media. This automatic drawing, painting, collage is a visual reconstruction of a compilation of long runs I took at Sunken Meadow State Park. I am fascinated by how close the Long Island Sound is to the fresh water of the Sunken Meadow creek that flows into the Nissequogue River.

Thirty Days has November

What began as a humble challenge for myself quickly turned into a passion for working with paper. Each of these represents a morning moment while I was out running. Looking up, looking down, and looking out. Represented are views from Cold Spring Harbor, Centerport, Coindre Hall, Mill Dam, Lloyd Harbor Causeway and Caumsett State Park.

Caumsett Camouflage

Pen and Ink. July, 2023. I was lucky enough last summer to be at the beach when some piping plover chicks hatched. This one’s body blended in perfectly with all the stones. I’ll post a photo on my cabinet page.

This assemblage is titled The Mariner. I used rocks, shells, bones and other detritus from my collection of objects, natural and man made. The cufflink belonged to my great great grandfather who was a Merchant Marine. I was inspired by a class I took called Tiny Worlds given by Allis Markham an award winning taxidermist.
